Thomas is eight months now. And here are some things he’s up to:
saying consonant sounds
started eating real solids - crackers and fake Cheerios
picking up Cheerios with finger and thumb - he can even get them to his month sometimes, mostly with his left hand
creeping, not officially crawling
understands the word, “no”
can stand next to furniture, but is not cruising
smiles and laughs a lot
plays peekaboo
he can get from his sitting to crawling on his own
loves the cats
has figured out that things make noise - bangs his hands on the floor, his feet on the oven, shakes his toys purposefully, bangs blocks together
Lest, you think he’s perfect, (which I still think he is), here is some mischief he is up to:
eating plants
grabbing the iPod out of the dock
eating cords
I hate to admit this one, but today I caught him reaching his hand into a cat furball. DISGUSTING. I gave him a bath in hand sanitizer after that.
eating magazines, any paper item really
Things we are working on:
waving bye-bye
clapping
saying Mama and Dada
“playing ball”
Last week I put together a “treasure basket” for him. The idea is to put items from around the house in a basket. The items have different textures for him to explore - other than plastic which he is used to from the majority of his toys. He loves it. In fact yesterday he sat and played with his “treasure basket” for an hour while I had some friends over. Here are some pictures of him initially exploring the “treasure basket.”
We can’t remember when we’ve smiled so much!
