Hi All, I thought it'd been long enough since you've heard from either of us, so it's time to let you in on what's going on at ES. Wade and I have been tossing around an iPhone application idea and have started noodling around with the SDK. The iPhone is a whole new world and everyone is starting from ground zero which is super cool. I'm excited to see what people come up with. Most likely we'll be starting our iPhone app later this spring/summer.
In the here and now we've been working on the next version of Bookit which we're pretty stoked about. Besides adding support for all modern browsers we have a laundry list of other new features we think you'll enjoy. That said, if you want to see a specific feature in Bookit, please post a comment and we'll check it out.
We've learned a lot since Bookit 3 was written many moons ago so we're taking time to rewrite a lot of it from scratch. This allows us to clean up, modernize and simplify the code base giving users quicker releases with more features. While we don't know when we'll be done, we just wanted you to know we're work'n on it. :-)
cheers, will music: meg hutchinson

I would love Bookit to be able to run in the background and synchronize my Firefox 3 & Safari 3 bookmarks on schedule!

And I'll third the above, I've had to stop using Bookit as I have moved to Firefox 3 as my browser of choice. Alas the url mess has already set in ... Looking forward to Bookit support for Firefox 3 *very* much.

I recently ditched .Mac since it was too pricy and I didn't use half of the features. And since Gmail started offering IMAP access and address book syncing is on the way, there was no reason to stay.
But the last thing that I'm missing: bookmarks syncing. With Bookit I could synchronise between local browsers or networked computers, but I would also like to sync remotely. That is possible using .Mac, but it would be great if Bookit would support other WebDAV servers as well.

The inability of Bookit to do FF3 synching has me in a touch of lurch, but, after looking at BookDog, I decided I am waiting for an updated Bookit!
(hurry tho :)

Hi there,
Thank you for continuing to work on BookIT. One thing that would be really nice for BookIT would be the addition of more import and export formats, similar to SiteTagger. For instance, it would be great if BookIT could import and export: 1. Netscape bookmark files (already does! :-)) 2. XBEL 3. OPML 4. CSV 5. RTF (Export only is needed here) 6. PDF (Export only is needed here) 7. From a folder of .Webloc files or .URL files from Windows. (VERY IMPORTANT).
What do you think? Is this possible?
Thanks, Eric

One feature that can't be added to Bookit soon enough is Firefox 3 support. Since bookmarks aren't allowed to be created under the root directory in Firefox 3 (like they can be under Safari and Camino), I would love it if Bookit provided a way to automatically map Safari/Camino root bookmarks and folders under "Bookmark Menu" in Firefox while keeping them at the root when syncing back to Safari and Camino. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see Bookit 4. Any chance of a beta?

Please ... Please add support for Firefox 3 ... please!
Currently there is no other way to sync firefox bookmark into the iphone except with bookit. Please add this one feature even if it is 3.7.6 upgrade.
This one feature upgrade would make a lot of customers very happy! I am excited about bookit 4 ... but please add firefox 3 asap!!!
Thanks!

Maybe more flexible import/export of HTML content (outside of recognized browser bookmark files)....
Say you have some bookmark content across several files, from different sources (not recognized as browser default bookmark files). The ability to open these files, edit the content as you want, then paste into your default bookmark file prior to a sync.
Just a more open editing model :)

Bookit 3.7.5 doesn't work with Firefox 3.0.1 because bookmark are now stored in a file called "places.sqlite and not in bookmark.html. Please fix this issue as soon as possible, otherwise the application is unusable. Thank you very much, have a nice day
